A blind woman celebrated her 75th birthday by taking the helm of an Irish Sea passenger ferry for part of its crossing from Wales to Ireland yesterday.

Blodwyn Phillips has completed a series of fund-raising challenges for charity Guide Dogs, including flying a plane. She piloted the HSS Stena Explorer during its 1.45pm sailing from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire.
