THERE are no plans to make the UK's DNA database compulsory despite the convictions of Mark Dixie and Steve Wright, the Home Office said yesterday.

Suffolk serial killer Wright and Sally Anne Bowman's murderer Dixie were both caught after their DNA was taken for other offences, leading for calls for a national register.
