EUROSTAR last night promised "a proper and full" inquiry into how thousands of passengers became trapped in the Channel Tunnel in "terrible conditions". Passengers complained of their treatment during their ordeal after arriving in St Pancras Station in London - many having spent more than 16 hours on trains and coaches.

A spokeswoman for the company said yesterday: "We're committed to making sure something like this doesn't happen again to our passengers.
